This 10-mile day trip on the Etowah River takes beginner and novice paddlers to the next level on moving water with shoals and small ledges to navigate!

Enjoy one of the most scenic and historic sections of the lower Etowah as it runs between Cartersville and Rome. Starting on Euharlee Creek, you’ll cover a wide range of water from flatwater to numerous small shoals and ledges. Participants will glimpse multiple Native American fish weirs (rock dams built by Native Americans 500 to 1000 years ago) and visit the historic Euharlee Creek covered bridge. The trip will be led by certified American Canoe Association kayaking instructors and is a great follow up to the Learn-to-Kayak Chattahoochee River Adventure in early June. Detailed logistical information including meeting times and locations will be e-mailed to all registered participants one to two weeks prior to the event.

Skill Level Required:

This route is suitable for beginners/novices and will include time for paddling/water safety instruction. Mostly flatwater with some small shoals and ledges.

Register

Registration fees are $35 for youth 17 and under and $70 for adults. Registration closes May 29 or when full. Registration fees include guide/kayaking instructions services, river maps and shuttle service. Rental kayaks may be reserved when registering. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!

Janina Edwards

Janina Edwards is an enthusiastic kayaker, trip leader, and certified American Canoe Association instructor who has completed more than 1000 miles of paddling in Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Illinois and Missouri.

Lisa George

Lisa George is an American Canoe Association certified kayaking instructor, Georgia Rivers volunteer, Mental Health Advocate, avid adventurer, Water Safety Champion, and Volunteer Senior Admin. for the Georgia Chapter of Black Women Who which empowers, educates, and inspires women of color to venture into outdoor environments. She schedules joy like she schedules her meetings and encourages others to do the same. She has reframed the work-life balance narrative to "work hard, play harder, rest well".

Mike Henry

Mike Henry is an American Canoe Association (ACA) certified kayaking instructor and watersports merit badge counselor with Scouting America. He enjoys both flat-water and river paddling and participates in annual endurance-based races throughout the Southeast. When not on the water, Mike enjoys hiking, camping, and capturing the outdoors through photography and videography.
