Rafting on the World’s Longest Urban Whitewater in Columbus, Georgia, Plus a visit to Passaquan, the Fantastical, Mock pre-Columbian Wonderland Created by Eddie Martin in nearby Buena Vista
Georgia Rivers is getting wild on this excursion to the state’s Fall Line where in Columbus the Chattahoochee River spills over a series of falls creating what is considered the world’s longest urban whitewater run and where, in nearby Buena Vista, there exists one of the stranger (and most celebrated) art installations in the country–Passaquan, the visionary creation of Eddie Owens Martin, an eccentric native of Southwest Georgia who spent three decades crafting seven acres of his mother’s farm into a remarkable homage to pre-Columbian Mexican, African, and Native American cultural and other religious symbols. It is every bit as wild as the Chattahoochee’s whitewater. The day begins with a tour of Passaquan and ends with a late afternoon run down the Chattahoochee’s natural and man-made whitewater course.

Skill Level Required:
This is a whitewater rafting trip led by Whitewater Express, the concessionaire on Columbus’s Chattahoochee whitewater run. The trip is suitable for all skill levels. Participants will have the option of paddling their own inflatable solo kayak in a group led by a Whitewater Express guide or claiming a seat in a raft with a Whitewater Express guide. Youth must be at least 7 years-old and weight 60 pounds or more.

Registration fees are $80 for adults and youth. Registration closes July 31 or when full. Registration fees include guide services, inflatable kayak/raft rental, shuttle service and entry to Passaquan with guided tour.
