About the Event

Show your support for river recreation and conservation in Georgia by attending Georgia River Network’s “ChiliFest for Rivers” on Tuesday, November 9 from 6 – 9 p.m. at SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta.

This celebration of Georgia’s waterways will feature a program on Georgia rivers, a raffle and live auction, live music by Kathy Reed & the Lonesome Redwing Trio, delicious chili provided by our chili cook-off contestants, sweet treats provided by our bake-off contestants and of course, SweetWater Brewing Company’s finest refreshments. In an effort to ensure the safest experience for all guests, this in-person event will follow the CDC recommendations for gatherings (vaccination is recommended, masks will be recommended as necessary).

This event will also serve as Georgia River Network’s annual member meeting.

Come celebrate Georgia’s waterways with other river lovers like you at ChiliFest for Rivers!

Help us put the CHILI in ChiliFest!

Everyone is invited to enter their best vegetarian/vegan or meat chili recipe into the chili cook-off for a $20 entrance fee (paid when you purchase your event tickets). Our celebrity judge, Commissioner Mark Williams of the Department of Natural Resources, will select his favorite veg & non-veg chilis by the end of the night and the winners will receive a GRN Chili Champ apron, glass trophy and acknowledgement during the event.

All you need to bring is a face mask to wear while serving and a crock-pot of your best chili and we’ll supply the toppings, serving utensils, napkins, small cups/bowls and spoons.

Bake Sweets for Georgia’s Rivers!

After we enjoy our chili, we’ll need some sweet treats to round out the meal! All attendees are invited to enter the ChiliFest bake-off. Simply pay the entry fee of $20 when you register and plan to bring 24 cookies, brownies or cupcakes with you to the party (Please note: we are requiring single-serve desserts only to help maintain our COVID-19 safety protocols).

Live Music

Kathy Reed & the Lonesome Redwing Trio

As you enjoy delicious refreshments and mingle with friends, Kathy Reed & the Lonesome Redwing Trio will be providing some authentic and fresh acoustic Americana musical entertainment. Showcasing an upright bass, octave mandolin, guitar and fiddle, they will play an assortment of their own songs as well as folk and appalachian classics.

  • State-wide Water Trails Network: the development and management of state’s growing water trails network
  • Mapping of Georgia’s Rivers: through a partnership with EarthViews, Georgia River Network is creating 360-degree Google “Street-View-style” maps of Georgia’s rivers
