Flint River with Outdoor Afro
This adventure features a 14-mile paddle on one of the most scenic stretches of river in Georgia.  The route explores the Pine Mountain region where in places you’ll think you are boating through the mountains of North Georgia. Time permitting, a riverside stop and hike to Dripping Rocks–a beautiful waterfall located at Camp Thunder, a Boy Scouts Camp–will be incorporated into the trip. In the 1970s, this section of river was threatened by a proposed hydropower dam. Local opposition to the proposal was significant and when Gov. Jimmy Carter visited the Flint and paddled this section of river, he became convinced that the scenic beauty of the river should be preserved. The trip is suitable for novice paddlers with some small Class I shoals.
