Chattahoochee River

EVENT DETAILS: Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee, it gets hotter…but we’ll cool off in the river and its tributaries as we make a 12-mile run on an historic section of the river featuring Bushhead and Daniel shoals and Hilly Mill and Redbone Creek Falls. We’ll start by dropping our boats at historic Hollingsworth Ferry and then drive our vehicles to Franklin’s boat ramp. From there we’ll shuttle back to Hollingsworth Ferry to begin our paddle.

Registration Fees: $60 ADULTS/$30 17 & UNDER

Registration fees include shuttle service, river map/guide, liability insurance fees, on-river guide and sag vehicle.

Event Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Paddling: The paddle route is Class I-II water with two significant shoals–Bushhead Shoals and Daniel Shoals. Bushhead Shoals is a series of small ledges. Daniel Shoals, a borderline Class II shoal, is the most challenging rapid on the Chattahoochee downstream of Peachtree Creek in Atlanta. Safety boaters will be stationed here to direct paddlers to the best route to navigate this 2-foot ledge. Arrangements may also be made to visit Hilly Mill Falls, a beautiful waterfall on the creek of the same name located a short distance from the creek’s confluence with the river. The 12.2-mile route will take between 5 and 7 hours to complete.

Boat Rentals: Need a boat? We’ve got ’em. Tandem sit in kayaks and solo sit on top kayaks are available. You can reserve your boat when you register.
