This 11-mile adventure on the Chattahoochee courses along the state line between Alabama and Georgia from West Point Dam to the mill village of Riverview. The trip includes portages around two historic mill dams that, in the near future, the Georgia Power Company plans to remove, restoring natural flows on this section of river. We’ll get to see the river before the dismantling of the dams and set ourselves up for a return trip once the dams have been removed.
The trip is mostly flatwater with some Class I shoals. The portage routes, though short, are along undeveloped paths.
Registration fees include shuttle and guide services, educational programs and river map. Rental boats are available.
Specific logistical information will be e-mailed to all registered participants in the week leading up to the adventure.
