Muscogee Ancestral Paddle Reclaims Ocmulgee River Homeland
Georgia Rivers staff assisted citizens of the Muscogee Nation with an historic paddle down the Ocmulgee River Sept. 13. It was the first time since removal in 1836 that citizens of the Nation had travelled the river is such numbers. The Muscogee Ancestral Paddle was an effort to reclaim an important part of the Nation’s homeland. Paddle Georgia Coordinator Joe Cook reports on the journey down river.
