Healthy Rivers, Healthy You Challenge: Cast the Bait to Feel Great
Do you dream of an early morning out on the lake with your rod and reel? Time to make that dream a reality! Did you know that fishing can be an amazing stress reliever? That’s right! Spending the day out on the water with friends, family, or just yourself and nature can lower your stress levels significantly! More specifically, being out in the sunlight can enhance the serotonin levels in your brain, causing you to feel happier.
PLUS, you’re contributing to conservation just by being there! When you purchase a fishing license, pay angling taxes, or buying a nongame wildlife tag, you are helping fund many wildlife and conservation programs that exist in the United States. Ever eaten what you’ve caught? Eating a fresh fish dinner is not only a great source of protein and fatty oils, but is supporting a healthy, sustainable diet!
Georgia River Network Strives for Healthy Ecosystems
Georgia is home to some of the richest diversity of aquatic life, including fish, mussels, frogs, and many other critters. This is why it’s important to keep our rivers, streams, and lakes healthy. No one wants to fish or eat their catch from a polluted, littered, or dirty body of water! At Georgia River Network, we not only want to preserve water quality for humans, but also for all the aquatic species that call these waterways home. In doing this, we continually support and empower a network of 30+ watershed groups, providing them with the tools and resources necessary to carry out river restoration programs that keep our rivers healthy and clean.
